Results of RMC Financial Education Programs in Rural Areas of Belarus in 2014-2016
2 September 2016 in Minsk, Belarus - Republican microfinance center (Belarus) has organized a round table "Results of RMC Financial Education Programs in Rural Areas of Belarus in 2014-2016".
The event was held in the framework of the International Technical Assistance Project "Increasing Access to Finance for Rural Population of Belarus", implemented by the Republican microfinance center (RMC) with support of USAID.
More than forty representatives of interested ministries and departments, educational institutions, associations and entrepreneurs support centers, farmers, owners of farmsteads and artisans familiarized with the information about the financial education course "Plan Your Future", the results of its implementation in rural areas. They learned that in 2014-2016 sixty-one "Plan Your Future" trainers, certified during the Project, have conducted 123 trainings for 2230 participants from small towns and villages. Economically active rural population have gained knowledge and management skills in personal family budget, financial planning, financial goals achievement.
The round table participants also examined the results of sociological researches of Sociology Institute of the NAS of Belarus "Access to Finance and Financial Literacy of the Belarusians: the Facts and Findings" and experience cooperation of RMC with the Microfinance Center (MFC - Warsaw, Poland).
They discussed the role of journalists and economists in financial literacy of the population. Participated in the round table journalists expressed the necessity of financial literacy training for themselves.
